The rift between parents and children is a main theme within this genre and is showcased in said events.

The film establishes an enigma from the outset by showcasing the rift between Ladybird and her mother, and further this mystery by showing how it reaches an extreme when Ladybird jumps from a moving car to avoid a fight with her mother. The mystery of the rift and its resolution are presented as the enigma for the rest of the film.

The strategies used to ensure the film appeals to its target audience would be the inclusion of well known actors like Sarsiose Ronan that have previously appeared in teen dramas in order to capture the same performances that the audience is aware of. The bombastic personality of Ladybird is also something that fits well with the audience and could lead to more attention being drawn to that character. 

How has technology been used effectively? You might want to consider camera angles, transitions and editing techniques. 

Technology and technique are used to great effect in these opening scenes. More specially that camera angle that cuts to the Mother’s face the second that ladybird jumps from the car showcases the utter terror that has consumed the charcter and futhers the shock from the scene as a whole.
